Intel Signs on to $100 Laptop Project

The One Laptop per Child (OLPC) foundation has formed an alliance with chip maker Intel after the two reached an agreement following a public war of words. The OLPC said in May that Intel "should be ashamed of itself" for undermining the project.

OLPC founder Nicholas Negroponte accused Intel of selling the Classmate PC below cost in an effort to drive the $100 laptop out of the developing world. Google, Red Hat and AMD are already partners of the initiative.

Intel stated that: "What happened in the past has happened. But going forward, this allows the two organisations to go do a better job and have a better impact for what we are both very eager to do, which is help kids around the world."
