Kerala's IPL team owning dream has also been revived with reports of the Muthoot Pappachan Group "assessing the new terms and conditions".Earlier, film director Priyadarshan and actor Mohanlal had pulled out of the race citing the clause that the net worth for a team had to be Rs 5,000 crore. But they are not the only ones bidding for a team from God's own country.According to reports, the Ashok Piramal Group is part of a consortium that includes the Jaypee Group, Shree Ram Group of Industries, Rosy Blue India Pvt. Ltd and Anchor Electricals Pvt. Ltd, which is bidding for Kochi. With these developments, it seems that Kochi will also join the list for the top bidded teams - something that was expected from the cities of Ahmedabad, Pune and Nagpur. In fact, Ahmedabad had been tipped to win one of the two bids with top corporates like Adani Enterprises, Sahara Group and ICICI planning to 'show them the money'. Shashi Tharoor Trying for Kerala IPL franchise?
The Union Minister of state for external affairs is learnt to have held talks with a co uple of business groups for realising an IPL te am for Kerala.

Though there were efforts to mobilise reso urces from a consortium non resident Keralites, now Tharoor focusses on a giant construction group based in UP. “The group doesn’t have any business interests in Kerala.

However, they evinced an interest in the idea,’’ said the source. Tharoor will play the role of a non-playing captain and remain as a patron of the team.

Tharoor is the chairman of City Cricketers, a Thiruvananthapuram-based cr icket club. Interestingly, Mohanlal and Priyadarsan are also members of this cricket team.
Sources said Tharoor took forward the dream from where Lal and Priyadarsan had left it. “There is no chance of a collision of interest between two bidders for a Kerala team.

Tharoor’s effort has all support from Mohanlal and Priyadarsan,” said a source.
However, chances are very bleak for Tharoor to bid for a team during the upcoming auction. If everything goes as per plan, he may bid for the team during 2011 auction. By that time, Thiruvananthapuram will ha ve a cricket stadium as there are plans to co ns truct a couple of new stadiums. Via
